It's clear she doesn't wish to face that her mother may be the key to sorting through the entire mess. Perhaps I should have been less insistent, on the matter. Perhaps I simply want to see a case where estranged parent and child reconcile, after all.
If this does not resolve itself soon, some other arrangement must be made. Her position is as insecure as it has ever been, and there is only so long even my good word will preserve her reputation from lasting harm. There is no shortage of ambition, even among priests. Especially among us, some would say. Something to consider, and soon. ... Too long of this, and I risk my own reputation, for her sake. A precarious situation, to be sure.
And then this business with that smuggler docking in Azudesce. No word, yet, but strengthen security overmuch and he will grow suspicous. And when he goes, he will take that woman with him, once again out of reach. Hm.
It would be good to put that matter to rest. I'll have to strike some balance with the guard. |
